A South Sudanese university student was beaten to death by criminal groups in the town of Bishoftu in neighbouring Ethiopia on Tuesday, according to relatives.
The deceased was identified as Bil Puok Chuol.
Pur Reath Puok, a relative of the deceased, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that Bil, 18, was returning from college when he was attacked by a group of criminals outside a shop on his way home. The group beat him to death before they escaped, he said.
Reath said the shop owner where the incident happened has been arrested as part of investigations launched to unveil circumstances surrounding the killing, while the deceased body is in the mortuary.
